Entries for the 14th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) are now open. The organizers of the AMAA are calling upon filmmakers from all over Africa to submit their films for consideration. The AMAA also dubbed the African Oscars celebrates African filmmakers and achievements in the African Film industry which has made remarkable strides over the past years. Filmmakers can submit their feature films, short films, animation and documentary works for consideration in the nearly 30 categories.
The official deadline for all submissions is 30th January 2018 while the late entry deadline is 14th February 2018. Filmmakers can submit their works in any AMAA offices across Africa or on Film Freeway. For your film to be eligible for submission, it must have been produced and released between June 2016 and January 2018. Feature films should not exceed 120 minutes while short films should not be over 40 minutes.
The nominated films will be announced on April 2018 ahead of the prestigious awards ceremony which will be held on 2nd June 2018. The 14th AMAA like its predecessors will be held in a glamorous red carpet ceremony which will be televised globally.
Founded in 2005, the Africa Movie Academy Awards aims to honor African filmmakers and facilitate the development and the showcasing of the social relevance of African film and cinema.
